Plant ID Please

Can someone please help to identify this.
Please tell me that it is a garden plant and not a weed, because I have just found half an acre of it in the middle of a flower bed
The flower shown is just beginning to open so I don't know what it will be like when fully open. It's about 3ft tall and the underside of the leaf is brown. The brown markings on the leaves are very distinctive and I feel that I have seen it before, but my brain refuses to remember it

i know what it is, but cant remember the name, i think its a garden plant, but a very invasive one, youll need to keep it back to whatever area you wannt it.

It's not a great photo but I thnk it's Himalayan Balsam.  Really invasive and should be killed off if you can.

It doesn't look like himalayan balsam to me but it's hard to tell properly - the leaf looks different and so does the flower. If it is though, DDD is right as it really is a terrible (but beautiful) pest.

It looks like a real close up photo given the detail of the leaves.

I think it is Polygonum (possibly Capitatum) It's a knotweed but not related to the Japanese ones. Bistort is the same family, there are quite a few cultivated iones, so I have to wait and see whether it becomes clearer when the flowers are fully open

A weed is any plant that isn't where you want it to be - there are always a few spindly potatoes that you missed that insist on growing in the wrong place aren't there? Last year we had loads of tiny tomato plants all over the polytunnel from the cherry toms that fell and rotted down the year before.
