It's Pancake Day next Tuesday and I'd like some ideas for fillings/toppings etc.

We don't just have them once a year as they are quick and easy to make but J just likes sugar and lemon juice on his, or maple syrup. So, what do you put on yours?

Might not be what you're looking for, but the following day I use left-over batter/pancakes to make a cannelloni/tortillia-style savoury dish.

yeah we do the same....and have them savory sometimes like mince in them is nice.

And for sweet i like a small drizzle of sweeten condensed milk over a banana and rolled in the pancake

I make the thick round scottish pancake not the crepey kind..

What I like on mine is hot Stewed apple with big chunky bits left in it, thick warm toffee sauce (dulche de leche) and a scoop of really nice vanilla ice cream

oooh yes thanks townie i forgot about icecream....as a kid we would have a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of golden syrup in the midle then fold the pancake in half....or ice cream and tinned cherries...was another one my mum used to give us! hmmm am getting hungry now!!

Another idea for leftover pancakes (the thin kind) - a recipe from Southern Germany: Flaedle Suppe. Cut the pancakes into very thing strips and heat in clear broth for a very nice soup! Probably originally made with meaty bouillon, but of course it works with veggie, too. And I would put some small bits of veg in, too.

My pancakes are usually the thicker ones nowadays, with bits of apple and raisins in. (Yes, I still have raisins! Does anybody want some more?)

Only problem I have with condensed milk is the Nestle connection. Does anyone know of a non Nestle condescended milk?

Maple syrup and cream does it for me every time

Have yet to work out a successful savoury filling, so will be watching this thread with interest...
