Forget-me-Not

Olive tree Buds poisonous or not?

We've lost a 15 foot olive tree to the wind and think it would make a good if temporary wind break, interest to the hens. It has tiny buds on it. Checked my herbal books and all I can find is points about anti bacterial function of leaves and that they're a bit strong on empty stomachs. I remember the usual ones, hooly hocks etc.

Does anybody know whether it's safe for hens?

Really don't know - had a quick google and couldn't find anything (other than a flickr photo of hens around olive trees) - sorry, not much use probably.

maybe you should keep them away from it , till youve cleared it, just in case

Olive trees

Hi, Thanks for looking!

Tree was actually elsewhere and will be chopped up, was just wondering if whether would be nice for a week or so first, maybe adding to jugle greenery hens love.

It's lovely wood - wonder if you could sell it for woodworking?

Olive wood

Funny you should say that as  we noted that the trunk may be good for turning but to be honest we just plan to chop it for the fire. With no trailer etc, large amounts of wood are a gift horse at this time of year.

shame there's not a wood turner around who could swap you for some precut fire wood.  I know what you mean about the fire wood though...gone a bit brrrr over the last few days!
