Just for a matter of interest and for no reason at all I ask the following question :- How many moderators are there in this site as opposed to Neepsters

I think there are 15 moderators altogether.
There were 400 members on the old site but I think the move has dropped that to about 170. We don't really have enough to occupy us all but a lot of mods are extremely busy with their work and other commitments and so this does ensure that there is usually someone available to help. Hopefully numbers will pick up again, there is certainly a steady trickle of newcomers

Just a question......you mentioned the old site.....I am curious as to what happened to it. It sounds as though it was quite big. Hope this isn't a controversial question, I don't want to upset anyone.

No it was more to do with the speed it worked at and various other problems. WG can probably explain when she gets back but we were having spells of not being able to get on line with it and stuff, so a change was needed.
The new forum is much faster and easier to work with. A lot f the members who haven't signed up with the new one had never, or rarely, posted with the old one so they may or may not realise we have moved and may eventually sign up with us here.
It is not a sensitive topic at all

Thanks for the information , can you tell me why I have to sign in every time I come into the site. I did not use to have to sign in every time

I really don't know bcause I don't have to. I will check and see if there is a way of saying keep me always signed in on ths site. Which I assumed is what I had ticked

Sassinak ~> many thanks for that! I know so very little about computers/websites etc because up to running the B&B I had no dealings with them. I am learning more as time goes by, but it's a slow process.

Morning all!

Sassinak has answered the question well already and there isn't really much to add. We've copied a lot of the posts from the old forum over to this one - there are still some to come over and they will appear as an when we get time to do it.

As Sue said, there was far too much down time and we were restricted in the management of the site so moving to the myff forum host was a positive step for us all.

Marhar - I'm not sure why you should need to sign in every time - I've also clicked the remember me box and automatically get signed in. Possibly it is something to do with cookies on your machine. Cookies are not the type that you dunk in your tea in this instance but a small packet of information that is stored on your computer that a website looks for to see who you are. click here for more cookie info.
