Micro-hydro turbine bid for Allargue Estate.

AN ABERDEENSHIRE landowner wants to harness the energy of a fast-flowing burn to supply power to houses on a sprawling estate.

Allargue Estate at Strathdon has applied to Aberdeenshire Council for permission to install an 11-kilowatt micro-hydro turbine, which will generate enough electricity for nine average households.

The 6,000-acre grouse moor estate has a main house and six cottages, but they are too spread out to all benefit.

"Hydro" power is by far one of the best renewable technologies, and pays back far faster than most!

A friend of ours has an old disused mill and he is planning to power some of the estate houses using a water turbine too, similar thing to this I think. Its fabby idea!
