Look What We Found in the KitchenPresumably Jasper's latest offering.
Running around the kitchen this morning.
Quite a large chick, long legged with grey/black legs and beak. Only a couple of days old as tiny wing feathers are just visible.
Only similar bird that I can find is a Plover. We will see if Mr Brain will either take it in or suggest somewhere that will
Second picture is slightly blurred but gives a better idea of stance etc.

It looks to me like a lapwing chick. They nest on the ground. I don't suppose you've seen any in the fields around you?

It's at the Vet's now. The surgery in New deer has a small wildlife hospital and they took it in. We have to phone on Tuesday to see how it is, so I might get a proper id then.
