living off a rubbish tip

on sunday there is a programme on about living off a rubbish tip - might be worth a look it is on at 9pm

My lot are looking forward to this starting... i'd hate to think about how many bugs and diseases it harbours tho :?

Sounds like an interesting programme! Thanks for the heads-up

Just to reiterate what I said in another post. This is big brother in a rubbish dump. All about the social interaction and almost nothing about the recycling and waste that people produce. Tried watching the second episode....nothing new here.

Missed both programmes... but by the sounds of it I've not missed much.

You definately didn't miss anything. What a boring bunch, especially Gerome, who just sits about doing nothing. Mind you I have watched it, well not really, I have been sitting in bed reading my book while its been on, and you can't help but watch a bit.

What I didn't understand was that I thought plastic bottles were recycled these days, but a saw a wee bit of the programme while trying to get something to watch and a woman had filled a skip of plastic bottles!
Why is there plastic bottles there if they are supposed to be recycled.

I also think that in these days rubbish should be screened for scrap and anything that can be recycled like cable, steel, tins, bottles, etc.

It should be those that do not recycle that should be fined and not those why because they have family and have more waste to get rid of that will have to pay per weight as is proposed.

We should get big buckets where we can put anything in that can be recycled and it should be sorted out to be put to recycle centres, I just get the feeling that councils are just doing what they have to and no more and are just using this as an excuse to charge per kilo of waste to make money instead of tackling to problem.

I don't care for these reality programmes anyway, but what I did see of this one just lets you see how much more could be recycled. :?

Honest.. I didn't watch it all, just little bits. My book is more interesting than the programme
