LCD Monitor with display problemAll of a sudden our LCD monitor has stopped displaying properly. It is split down the centre vertically - one side is black and the other red. When the background windows is showing it is blue and pink.
We can still use it for basic stuff - but it's not much use for games/photos etc.
Does anyone have any idea whether it can be fixed or not?

Sounds odd that it's split down the centre of the screen, normally if it was just the pins that send the colours, etc that it would all be wrong rather than half and half (unless LCD's are connected differently?)
Didn't you just get it not long ago? Can't you take it back?
I'd check the pins and then check the graphics card drivers and settings just in case there is some odd thing in there. Other than that you'd probably find it cheaper to replace than try and fix if you need to get "into it" to sort.
You got another machine/laptop you can connect to it to see if it does the same or not?

It does the same on other pc - and even when not connected to a screen the split is still there. It's 5 or 6 years old and has had heavy usage! I guess it has just come to the end of it's useful life.

I have seen a few LCD monitors do something like this, though it is usually black at one side and white or normal at the other.
If you have tried it on another computer and it is the same just bin it.
Cheaper in the long run and you will have a warranty with a new one.
Pink & Blue is a new one on me

oddly enough... and with no intervention from anyone... it's working again!! Glad we didn't just switch it off and buy a new one (not that we could afford to anyway!)
