Landrover Appreciation Thread

So anyway, theres seems to be quite a few of us with a strange hankering for anything remotely Landrover.

So post your pics (might be an idea to blank or blur your reg plates before posting unless you're not worried about being recognised on the road) of your girls!!
Smooth Hound

i ued to have a series 1, a brilliant machine, thats my favourite one,
JoH

Do you have any photos of her Smooth? Never had a Series I and rare on the gorund nowadays.
Lord_Azrael

Used to have 4 Series 3's, a 2 1/4 NA diesel, a 2.5 Turbo Diesel with wide wheels, sports steering wheel and roll cage, a 109" V8 'Project' and a 6-wheel V8 truckcab!

Excellent vehicles.  I'm not as fussed with the newer ones though, I worked for Land Rover for a time, so I got to drive all the fancy new Disco's, the 4.6 HSE Rangies etc etc, and I'd always preferred getting back into one of the 3's

We've still got a load of spares for them here, but alas, we no longer have the Landies
One day, when I find some more money......

Forgot to add...all our diesel's were fitted with Rangie diffs too.  80mph out of a 2 1/4!  Great fun, but very noisy!!

I learned to drive in a diesel SIIA. Every car since has been a sportscar!

First, the 110 CSW 200TDi that's our current car.

Drove over a load of carpet tacks.

With heavy duty shocks and the springs from a Hi-Cap pick-up, ours easily carries 750kg of pig feed plus four people.

Mobile kitchen at about 5am, somewhere in Scotland.

Hauling the livestock float. The 110 has hauled a load of pigs up the Gartly Moor road with three feet of snow over the road.

Moving a pig hut. I usually move them myself but was ill when this shot was taken so the OH used the 110.

Seeing service as a water bowser when our borehole ran dry. The rear suspension broke after quite a few trips, hence the upgrade I mentioned earlier.

Our previous 110. Ex-Environment Agency, low miles and very cherished. The first two photos were only taken two years ago. It sold to the first person who saw it for full whack. It didn't have enough room for all four of us—I wanted to leave the OH behind, she wanted to leave me behind.

Yes, very good in the snow on those Trac-Edge tyres.

In use as mobile scaffolding.

Removal van and home from home.

You have to start them young.

The OH's last Disco, a 300TDi. Again very cherished and again it sold to the first person to see it. Replaced by a pedal trike.

The OH's all-time favourite car, a W-reg TD5, and also very cherished. Sold to buy pigs.

As for the rego, everyone knows us already. Just as we know all the other Land Rover drivers hereabouts. Or at least those who drive 110s/Defenders.

no , didnt have a camera then, only a 110 instant, never used to use it, never remembered to get many films developed and most of them were black,     didnt have computors then and digital, not like now.   i wish i had of taken a picture now

http://www.roncobb.com/photo21.html           it was pretty much the same as this one, only had the roof off once, but mine had a removable hard top, it was a 1600 cc petrol

Stoney: We remember your OH's Disco! And aye, the 110 is fairly recognisable especially with the red trailer on. I remember spotting you from about 2 miles back when we were northbound on the A90 near Dundee once. I said 'That looks like Stoney' and right enough, you were in a layby when we passed....in this which is OH's other woman (3.9 V8)

and this is MY other half having some love and attention before she goes in for MOT next week

and the one that bought us together (looking a bit sorry for herself on wee wheels - will try and find one of her in her previous glory. Anyway, Series I disco 3.5 V8)

and a random Freelander we have laying about (which is needing a new auto gearbox

Am trying to find photos of my Series III truck cab and will post along with OH's Series IIa, III and the other Rangie (also old Vogue SE).

Some people have dogs...

Sad isn't it...parting with them. I cried when I had to sell my truckcab. I would love to have seen your V8 6 wheeler

Heres a good load of photos for those who love the Series..

Yeah it is sad.  I wish I could get hold of another one, but monsey is too tight for it at present...although with the psares I've got I could nearly build one!

I'll have a dig through the old photo's, I think I may have a few pictures of the old beasties still.

The Other Half wants a Bowler Wildcat, "for a bit of weekend fun".

The world's fortunate we have no money!!
Rosie

Hello all.

This is my husbandGraham's  landrover. It's an ex military forward control 101.
I love this one, but it's difficult for me to get into cos i'm so short!!

wildgarlic

Hiya Rosie, great to hear from you again. What a fab landrover.
Rosie

Hello, how's you??

I love the land rover, but it's getting to the stage when i have to use a step ladder to get in.!!
wildgarlic

Oh dear - does he drive it much then?
mike and louise

Here is Hector, our defender, he's our first an we love him to bits. No point in worrying about plates when your this colour.

Even more obvious, he has a black door and a silver door on the passenger side- a work in progress.
wildgarlic

He's rather distinctive I'll be sure to wave if I see this driving about.
Rosie

We tend not to use it too much as it's VERY thirsty!! But we do take it to various car shows through out the year. It's great fun to be in!!

Seeing as there are a few on here... I don't suppose anyone has an old set of tyres for one (preferably legal, but not that important). The ones on my old disco are done (spent too long in the shed when the other ones were on and perished).

Haven't really the time to do a huge amount with it at the moment, but it'd be handy to be able to move it about the garden as and when the grass cutting season starts again

IIRC the size is 235/70/16 but I'm not 100% on that. Don't mind even if it's old tyres as and when you get yours changed to stay legal (as long as they hold air )
JumbleJim

Sorry Iain, can't help there, but do have other spares so if anyone has needs just ask before I throw them out eventually....hopefully attached is a photograph of one of our many "beasts" owned over a period of several years....we used to off road regularly, more as a means to an end in exploring otherwise inaccessible countryside.....

I'll have a look for you as we've still got a load of tyres stacked around the back of the garage.
I'm not sure of the exact size or condition though...I'll see.
