Is this just a cold??One of my rescue hens has a water, cookoo spit type discharge from one of her eyes. Apart from this she is absolutly fine and still laying..comb red and not lost any weight or anything..still eating and drinking.
Is it just a bit of a cold with the change in weather? It came on pretty quick after the rain set in?
She isn;t isolated or anything, should I do that or is it shutting the barn door after the cows have bolted??
Any answers please

Go and ask your chemist for a tube of Brolene ointment or something similar. I use it on anything that has an eye infection, it clears most things up in one application and seems to be very soothing.
The way I see it, if it is safe to use on human eyes, it will have been tested to a high standard and animal or human, an eye is an eye. Cheaper than a vet bill too.

You will find that a bubbly eye is usually a sign of either Mycoplasma or Chronic Respiratory Disease.
Both are highly infectious but the damage will already have been done so little point in isolation now.
Most flocks in this country have the Mycoplasma disease in them as any bird that recovers becomes a carrier. It can stay hidden with no symptoms for years and only flare up as a result of stess of some kind.
The vet can give you antibiotics for her (Baytril usually) but they often recover on their own.

She dosn't seem "stuffy" in her breathing or anything Sassinak, would that rule out CRD? She's been a lot better the last couple of days but I expect todays storms won't have helped
Talking of which do you think the changes in weather could have been stressful enough to bring it on?
