Is there an entomologist here?

Ok, before I start, if I am right I am sooo sorry..
That out of the way, do you know what this is??

It flew into my hair last night and after flicking it onto the floor BD stood on it!! I am not at all scared of beetles but this one kinda startled me. I have googled it as it so different to any other beetle I have found and I can only find reference to the 'Rare Crucifix Ground Beetle'     Hope my OH hasn't flatened a protected species.

I don't think so - I think it looks more like the Nicrophorus vespilloides, or the Common Sexton Beetle. I'm not an entomologist though, I just love bugs and stuff.

You could be right there, thanks for that, had a bit of a panic on here

Crucifix Ground Beetle has less wide stripes across it (only the one) which makes a cross shape, hence the name.
zombiecazz

yup definitely looks like a sexton.
