Is recycling your old clothes worth it?

Ummm... I don't chuck tops away... hence the reason I have some T shirts which I still regularly wear that are older than the young lassie who's started working in the same office here

Well yeah, we are the same too - things tend to get passed to friends once the kids have grown out of stuff, but other than growing out of things things tend to get worn out and then used as dusters etc.

Same here. Once I'm finished with clothes, I honestly couldn't offer them to any recycling business, let alone charity shop... And when they've finished their life as dusters or cleaning rags, they can be composted! Well, provided they are cotton, of course. Don't know what I'll do with the fleeces that I own (all given to me as presents - wouldn't buy anything that as pure man-made fibre as these).

I don't bin clothes either.
However, you might be interested in my mate's fashion label...

I wouldn't wear this, but that's because I'm a bloke.

I happen to be sitting here in a t-shirt that I bought when I was 17. I am now 43. AND I was annoyed when I saw it had a hole in it! The only time I get rid of clothes is if they fall apart or if I can't fit me in them anymore.

I think that even the dog would reject them as bedding when I have finished with clothes
I was always a great disappointment to my mum who loved clothes and clothes shopping. She had absolutely no love of the countryside and animals. In fact if she hadn't been there when i was born I would have doubts as to whether I was actually related to her. My 3 brothers and 1 sister have no interest in country matters either. I must be a throwback or something lol

Well I'm not too sure what I would do without charity shops. Just about all my clothes are second hand.

Since most of us seem to shop in charity shops, me included on the rare occasions that I buy any. There must be an awful lot of people out there who buy and discard the clothes for us -- Thanks whoever you are LOL
I have been known to pop into Primark from time to time as well !! Last of the big spenders that's me !!

I am never often in any shops let alone charity shops. All my clothes have been bought new or given to me by other people (either as new or old clothes).

It's just that I wear them until they are done... and then carry on wearing them a bit more

I use them as the padding in small quilts. That's what inside the squares of this:

I love the colours and design. You seem to make a lot of quilts Jaydee, is it your main passion?
zombiecazz

Lovely quilt.

That one is small - only about 18" square, I keep meaning to turn it into a cushion cover. I learnt the technique at a night class and wanted to try it out. The parrot fabric is a skirt remnant I found at work - not sure what they had used the other half for! I haven't made anything with the machine since I did the pillow covers although the machine and fabric are still taking up room in the kitchen - been too busy making socks!
