hopi ear candles

Has anyone tried this and if so how good is it? does it help if your ear is totally blocked as put oil in my ear last night to try and soften compacted wax but now my ear is totally blocked and cant hear plus its agony

just wondered if there was another way to unblock ears without going to dr to get it syringed.

Yeah - it's quite good. Actually, scratch that. It's great!
We tried it in Malaysia last year for a laugh. It's very relaxing getting it done although it does feel slightly strange at first when the vacuum gets going. Ask to see the candle afterwards, too - the wax looks similar to coral. You'll find everything feels louder for a bit afterwards!

sounds good then, can you do it at home or do you need to get someone qualified to do it and if so how do i find out where to go?

thanks

I was shown how to do this a few years ago, but haven't done it since.   I was amazed by the amount of gunk that came out of the candle afterwards.   Perhaps Vickie Rebecca of Aboyne does it, as it was at a Sekhem Workshop at her place that I was shown how to do it.   She's in the Yellow Pages, probably under Complementary Therapies.

The woman I go to for massage does it. She is nearby Turriff. I can give you her number if you want it.

Just a thought, but if your ear hurts it wouldn't do any harm to get your GP to examine it as it may be caused by something other than wax.

My daughter Niki and her mother in law tried this in Australia. Over there you can buy the stuff to do it. She said it was a paper cone that you lit  and as it warmed up it drew the wax out of the ear. Apparently, they burn quite slowly. I have never seen any over here though but I bet you could find a mail order site on-line.

Ear candles are made from beeswax and herbs, not paper.   I suppose one could do it oneself, but I wouldn't fancy doing so.   It needs someone to hold the candle while it is burning to ensure there are no drips or sparks falling on the person's face.   They are very slow burning.   Check out www.elementallifeforce.co.uk for further information on Hopi Ear Candles.

I was just repeating what I was told, I guess she thought they were paper as she couldn't see them when they were in her ear
I did say her mother in law was doing it with her.
