HomemadeAnyone got any good recipes for homemade cosmetics?
I'm looking for:
Moisturiser (face and body)
Lip Balm
Gardener's/Mechanic's style handcream
Would prefer recipes people have actually tried and can give feedback for. Also would prefer unperfumed.
Thank you

I can tell you that cocoa butter will deal with all that stuff - and more besides - and it smells really yummy
Cucumber is good to rub on your skin to help prevent sunburn, I used it all the time when I was in my teens, but that was before the ozone layer got so depleted. I have heard the same for raw potato but can't vouch for that one.
Oatmeal is good stuff to add to your bath as a skin soother and I have used it mixed to a thick paste as a face pack in the past. It leaves your skin wonderfully soft and will be great if you have any eczema or psoriasis type conditions.
An infusion of chamomile as a hair rinse will keep it fair. Also lemon juice, so why not both together.
If I remember any more, I'll post them later. I have a nice book called cheaper and better which gives reams of recipes for cleaning products and cosmetics. I will lend you it for a month if you like and you can copy out anything you find useful. Shall I bring it to the Suma meeting on Saturday?

Everyday Hand Cream
2 Tablespoons of white beeswax
3 teaspoons of anhydrous lanolin
3 teaspoons of cocoa butter
2 teaspoons of avacado oil
2 tablespoons of liquid parafin
2 teaspoons of glycerine
2 tablespoons of orange flower water
half a teaspoon of borax
4 drops of essential sandalwood oil
Method:
The only sure way of preventing chapped red hands is to wear rubber or cotton gloved when washing up and cleaning.
Many people find these cumbersome so the next best thing is to apply a light penetrating cream everytime the hands have been in water.
The cream should be rubbed in left to be absorbed for a few minutes then any excess wiped away.
Dissolve the borax in the orange flower water
Melt the wax, lanolin and cocoa butter seperately.
Then measure them into a basin over a pan of simering water, blend in the parafin, glycerin and avacado oil.
Remove from heat, stirring continuously, add the orange flower water and sandalwood oil.
Keep stirring until the mixture cools and begins to thicken, then transfer the creme to a screw top jar, cover with a circle of kitchen foil and secure the lid.
