help neededDoes anyone have experience of changing brakes and Disc's on a Rover 200?
My drivers side need done desperately, but I can't afford parts and mechanic.
I'd love to learn how to do it myself, but I'm not conifdent enough just togive it a go, so I was wondering if someone could teach me/help me.

If you can get hold of a Haynes manual it makes it 'relatively' simple.
I bought the book and changed all the brakes on my Golf by myself. I was quite chuffed with myself because I had never done anything with a car before

There's a useful short video here http://mcc-marketing.co.uk/carparts/Service_And_Repair_Videos.html
that shows you how to do it.
Do one side at a time so that you can refer to the other side if you forget what goes where. And use axle stands or strong timber when working under the car!
Go for it!

one thing to keep in mind is that the bolts for the discs can be very hard to undo, so a good long handled wrench and decent socket will be needed. last bit of advice if you cant budge them, then heat them with a blow torch

Sass is right about the workshop manual ZC. It might be worth you asking on the emporium and freecycle for one as it will talk you through any other repairs you might want to do in the future. Whenever we changed our car we always bought the manual right away. Never had a rover though.

I'd happily show you how to do them as I've been working on cars and bikes now for years. Brakes are no real trouble as long as you're careful ( as with anything) Ensuring you have all of the necessary parts and tools before you start work is a must unless you have alternative transport....just in case.
The offer's open, but I am over at Alves past Elgin.
