He's arrived!!!!Baby Dylan was born at 7.04 pm on Wednesday the 16th
She had to hang around the labour ward until mid afternoon as they had a few emergency admissions in the midwife unit but as soon as there was space she was moved over there and had her waters broken - she was already a couple of cm's dilated so that was all the induction nescessary and off she went. When she was told there was a birthing pool if she wanted to give it a try so, after a couple of hours walking around the room and such, she decided to and said that the relief was immediate. It seems that it soothes all the other aches and pains so that the whole lot together is more bearable and she recommends it. She managed without anything other than gas & air and her midwife was lovely.
He weighed 6lb 15&3/4 oz, looks the double of his Daddy and is feeding very well so I can relax now and stop pouncing on the phone every time it rings.
I reckon it will take a little while to re-establish my own sleeping pattern as I have got into the habit of waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning and wondering if she has started and I need to get up and go. By the time I have stopped thinking I might be having precognition, I am so awake that I can't sleep and sit up and knit instead. Needless to say, I woke up on cue last night so I need to sort that out.
Anyway, Nanny has two little treasures to love now

Curious question but does anyone else here smell babies  (apart from when they've pooped of course ) I love the smell of newborns

Speaking of photos, I can go shopping for a new camera now I'm not scared I might be called away at any moment. I will ask Niki if she can send me a pic of the cake I made for Taylor's b'day too, it took me all day but it was worth it. There are so many things I want pictures of and can't take any
I wonder if Niki would give me one of TJ when she covered herself from top to toe in the Sudacreme (sp?) it was hilarious, she looked like Casper
She might not want it online though but probably wouldn't object to the staff room
Yes MN, the first thing I did was smell his head and give it a kiss. I told him, 'you'd better get used to being kissed, Nanny is a mauler',

He's home now and everything is fine. They had to go back into hospital for 24 hrs to put him under the UV lamp because he was a bit jaundiced, but it gave Niki an extra day to get a bit of rest so I was pleased about that aspect of it.

I'll bet she really needed that extra day of rest too!!! Ahhh the blurry days of new babies, when you are too tired to even think straight.
