Have the swallows gone?

I think the swallows have gone, there were very few around at the beginning of the week and I haven't seen any today- its the end of summer.
kimmie

nope we have tons here still....they come out more when the rain has just stopped and the bugs hatch.....we also seem to have a lot of starlings too!!
wildgarlic

Still got them here, but I think that the osprey(s) have disappeared.
Smooth Hound

there did seem to be a change in weather yeterday, it started to feel autumny, mind you it could have been the strichen moors, it was warmed and mist free back here when i got back
lachlanandmarcus

my millions are still here and we even have additional broods still in nests - bit worried about their prospects....
Sassinak

My roof was still covered with them earlier.
I have some still flying into one of the outbuildings but I don't know if they still have young in there. I know the last brood in the stables fledged last week.
We couldn't figure out how they were getting in and out until I caught them in the act. We have a couple of holes punched the corrigated iron door to allow a chain to be passed to secure them. They are going through the little chain hole !!
Townie

We still have them down here too

since I read this post, I've seen loads of swallows/house martins.

I'm thinking of starting a thread about the sun and perhaps I'll see that soon too!

hee hee LOL!
Thrawnquine

I was watching some house martins this morning, but haven't seen a lot of swallows this year.
Sassinak

Driving back from James and Jessica's earlier this evening we passed telephone wires with over a hundred swallows lined up !! - I counted the first 50 and then guessed lol
kimmie

looks like my house martins and swallows have now gone.....and are replaced by starlins
kimmie

correction we still have two house martins left!!
lachlanandmarcus

we only have one or two swallows left, the rest left on Monday. The crows are here in great flocks and the owls have started hootieing at night. The little frogs are chirping like crickets in the grass everywhere too
Cockadoodledoo

The family from my workshop left yesterday.  I didn't think I would miss them - after the mess they leave behind.  I am in there every day and when I open up in the morning they were all lined up waiting to do whatever it is they do, and I used to make sure they were all in at night lined up on the beam before I shut up.
Now there is nothing ..

Never mind I now have the bats that live in there somewhere, as well as all the other wildlife around me.
