Has anyone else noticed...?Has anyone else noticed how many green issues crop up on the Radio 4 morning programmes?
It is worth tuning into in the mornings - I have listened to so many interviews, reports etc, for instance; did you know that Pam Ayres breeds dexter cattle
If you want something a bit gentler than pop music in the mornings I can highly recommend it.

I should listen to the radio more often.... you can even do it via the internet, and if you miss a programme you can listen again - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/progs/listenagain.shtml
Thanks Julie

Yep - but then I'm an avid radio 4 listener! Farming today this week this morning was good, too... About pigs prices again. And before that, something on open country on a shepherdess with a flock of Hebridean, I think in landscape management - I only woke up half way through it...

In our house every room has a radio which would probably need wrenching off R4
The "Today" programme is a great start to the day - often fiesty interviews of newsworthy big guns, and quirky bits of info. I'm rarely up quite as early as Ina, so miss "Farming today" (please imagine a wiping brow phew emoticon)
I love the eclectic listening it gives, from the incomparable humour of "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue", "The News Quiz" and "Just a Minute" through their science, sociology, medical and investigative strands, drama, in-depth news and of course the Archers
Currently they are debating bio-digesters, and I've learned a lot.
The listen again facility wildgarlic linked to can be searched by programme and subject.
It's very rare I watch tv, and when the current box ceases to work I'll not replace it. I can do stuff whilst listening to R4 rather than sitting passively on the sofa... then there's the World Service too ...

I wish we could do away with the tv - I'd be outvoted by everyone though. David's response would likely be that we'll get rid of the computer as well then....

I wish they repeated Farming Today later in the day - because I don't always want to be up that early, either! And because I'm still using the computer at work (too cold in the house is my excuse!), I can't use listen again... I know there've been complaints from some listeners that "farmers get their own programme every day, and there are only so few farmers in the country" - but my reply to that is: the programme is mainly for the rest of the population - farmers will know most of that already anyway. And the rest of us would do well to know more about it; after all - we all live on food, not on anything else!
I agree with Fia - I've learned loads off radio 4. And had a lot of really good laughs, too. And sometimes there are things on I don't enjoy - well, my radio has an off button...

You should be able to listen to it as a podcast Ina.
Try this:

I'll try later - must go and feed now - but usually we can't listen to anything online...

The Food Programme today was excellent - all about food waste in industry (catering, supermarkets etc). I think the repeat is tomorrow afternoon, 4pm.
