Im starting a course there in August a basic one but hopefully enough so I can make my own owl boxes etc )

I did the course there many years ago when he first started doing courses. it was very good although a wee bit expensive I thought.
I did 2 courses in woodworking and made a stool, breadbin and a corner shelf.

Good for practising with hand tools.

it is quite pricey, I thought about it awhile before deciding, but when a ready made owl box can cost £85 a go, and Im a duffer at this sort of thing, I think (hope) it will be worth it, also we have lots of stuff to make for when we eventually convert the rest of the house from the steading.

I thought it a bit pricey too at £22 a shot.     Perhaps it costs so much because it's a small group situation...and/or the insurance is costly because of the injury risks when working with machinery?

Ooops - forgot - meant to add my thanks for posting this! I'd never heard of them before and it's great to know things are happening locally. Often when i find interesting skills training it's too far away. Just spotted a biodynamic planting workshop at Camphill...but it's the Perthshire one.

unless its changed then you wont use any machinery since the course is for hand tools.

There are no power tools at all which suits me fine.

hurrah! they asked me if I had any chisels to sharpen )
Maria

Ooops - should have said 'tools' not 'machinery'. Tis' different i know...could have said 'sharp stuff' i guess.   Sometimes, when it's late, the fingertips do their own typing, unassisted by my oft wandering mind.
