Getting rid of spidersHaving had a real spider problem in the last week, literally clearly webs hourly and not an 8 legged creature in sight!
So I search the web for solution. The site I found said to use a spray containing cloves. So I thought I would give it a go. So I crushed up half a dozen cloves a poured on hot water and to cool. When it cooled I sprayed it in the high activity areas. 2 hours later still no webs. So then I mixed it with my home made air freshener. In all the places I sprayed no more webs have been made.
So I would say it was a success

That's excellent.
I've also found conkers work well - put them in the corners of your room (where spiders like to hide) or make a spray as you've done.

If you have dogs, don't use the conker method, they are poisonous to dogs.

Thanks M&L - does that apply to the spray too? I know you can buy commercial sprays with "extract of conker" from a well know door-to-door homeware catalogue too.

Sorry, don't know about that.

well it's official it's not my housework skills causing all the spiders. My son was watching the CBBC news and they stated that this year there is a big increase of spiders and leather jackets due to the very wet summer.
Lassie, the spider dog, is on over time and whilst she is enjoying the hunt it is very apparent that these spiders do not taste nice

Yes, one of our cats does a regular patrol, but while flies are a delicacy, it appears spiders are toys

All well and good, but the spiders keep down the beasties. I allow the odd spider to take up residence. Actually, occasional normal spiders are allowed too
