Forget-me-Not

Fram of the future

Finally finished watching it and now David has just watched it. Have been sending it to others  to watch too. Ordered a permaculture book.

Just wanting to share the permaculture buzzy feeling

Which book have you ordered Beth? We've got a copy of the Earth Care Manual (kindly donated by Townie) on the shelves of the Neeps library. Well actually it is out on loan at the moment but due back soon. I'm hoping to have a quick peek at it myself
Forget-me-Not

Book

Ohhhh it's forgotten exact title but from Amazon, fiverish and contains loads of projects for your house and garden. Front cover is four pictures with white edging??????? Within the first page when you search on permaculture. Was hoping to find something that not only explains but tells you what to do and how.

I roughly get the principles but it's putting them into practice and here, it's keeping neighbours happy as partly communal. Some are  greenish some are pink. I'm not able to explain it to others yet and need to be but maybe this book can provide what we need to do and by doing it, we can explain why etc.

My memory is like a sieve!

i would like one of my own   thanks for the offer of loan, but its something i want to refer too long term, if you see what i mean, and as you say its only 2.99 so next time you buy anything add it to the order and ill give you the money

Also looking into permaculture after seeing farm for the future... quite an inspiration. Think there is a lot  of value of people with an interest in this getting together to share experiences - as I dont think I'll live long enough to try everything myself!!

Have bought 2 books, Earth Care Manual and How to make a forest garden - both by Patrick Whitefield - both very comprehensive and a litle daunting at first as there is so much information- but very relevant for temperate climates and very practical.

Now hoping to go ahead and put a few ideas into practice at small scale before trying anything major.

Is there a permaculture group already in existance via NEEPS? is there a permaculture guru or project in the North east? (apart from Findhorn).

Yes please can we have a permaculture group ...... Maria????  You must have lots of ideas from the course that you can pass on.  Have you got details of the course and if they are having any more?  I realise I have been doing bits of this for years, but am trying to make more of an effort nowadays. I get Permaculture magazine and am willing to pass it round the circuit as long as I get it back before TOO long!

I've just watched the programme on i-player.  LOTS of food for thought.  A great programme, many ideas ... must get back out into the garden and fields!!

Erm, not sure whether they'll love or hate the title but....we have guru Jonny Barton. He was one of the first folk in Scotland to have completed the permaculture design course. He's planted goodness how many tree's at his place, and has just got his planning permission through for the first straw bale house in Aberdeenshire (Aberchirder). And we also have yon guru Rod Lovie who works at REAP in Keith AND teaches permaculture with the UHI! They've both joined neeps   - although they're busy folks and haven't visited for a whiley.

At the end of the intro course, Rod spoke of getting a permaculture network started for the north east.   Think it's time!

If we have a 'group' for permaculture what would folk want to do? I'm happy to pass on anything that I've learnt.
