Eco friendly battery chargers from Uniross | Quote: | Uniross has just announced the launch of a new range of eco-friendly battery chargers.
The new additions from Uniross, apparently the only battery brand endorsed by the WWF, include a solar charger with USB adaptor for £39.99.
There's a 15-minute charger that claims to charge any battery in - you guessed it - 15 minutes for £34.99. The NOMAD, described as "your portable power hub" with USB adaptor will cost £19.99.
The wind powered portable charger comes complete with bike mount and has an integrated Li-Ion battery with USB output and phone and game connectors and that's £49.99.
The travel clock charger doubles as a travel alarm clock and charges any battery in less than 3 hours, while you sleep for £29.99.
The new range of Uniross chargers is available from August from electrical, department, supermarket and hardware stores and internet retailers. |
Pocket Lint - well worth a visit.

Me cynical?.......well yes, just a touch!
Firstly I'm wholly in favour of renewable batteries per se, and have used rechargeable small batteries for many years, with that I don't have a problem........nor do I in principle have too much of a problem with a South African company (Uniross) making a fat living reselling products made in the PRC, OR their apparent espousal of the WWF as their pet charity, and presumably bunging them a few quid...........
BUT, having scanned the "new" products available, I am more than somewhat taken aback at the ludicrous prices demanded for the "new" products - particularly the £50 demanded for the bike-mounted, battery charging turbine..........(the performance of which I'm particularly sceptical about).
My tip would be to buy as many NIMH batteries as you need (word is that 7day shop are really good value), and invest in an "intelligent" charger for them (at a lot lower price than that lot). Maplins also do a very good and cheap (under a tenner) basic solar battery charger that works well (albeit slowly)
With the money you save, bung the WWF (or another charity of your choice) a few quid!
