Daft questionHow much room in a freezer does half a pig take up?

It's surprising how little once it is jointed, boned, bagged, chopped, made into sausage etc. If you have a chest freezer, probably a few cubic feet at most.
To put it another way, I could fit six large wethers into my large chest freezer and still have the quick freeze empty and fit the baskets in above them. I expect to easily fit in a whole pig, two wethers and fifty pounds of onions into it this Autumn with room to spare.
It is as exact as I can be, I hope it helps.

Thanks Julie - I knew it would be a tough one to answer.

I can tell you this; when it is all bagged up you will say to yourself, 'is that it?'

I have a under counter freezer....Hotpoint Future. I can get half a pig in and a full lamb at a squeeze, more comfortable with half a lamb.
But it depends on the size of the pig
