Creative Waste ExchangeLatest Newsletter - Remember that Neeps has membership for you all. PM Sassinak for details.
Moving Premises
Aberdeen Forward, the charity running the Creative Waste Exchange, will be moving premises towards the end of June this year. After 3 successful years based in Dyce it is now time to move into new premises based in Aberdeen City Centre. We have been given the opportunity to purchase our own building to house the Creative Waste Exchange creating a Sustainable Communities Centre where there will be lots of information available about different organisations and groups throughout the North East. We are also hoping to expand our workshop selection and opening hours over time making it even esier to visit us and browse around our Aladdin's Cave of low cost, good quality resources!
More details will follow including the address and opening times.
Sale
We are holding a sale during May and June at the Exchange, everything must go!
Open Day
Our next open day will be Saturday 7th June, 10am - 2pm at Dyce. However, members are more than welcome to visit us throughout the week to take advantage of the sale items! 9.30am - 4.30pm every day and late night Thursday until 8pm.
New Labouring Job
Aberdeen Forward is expanding it's Aberdeenshire Community Composting project and as such is looking to recruit a labourer. Please see the attached job description for more details. If you know of anyone who is interested please pass on the attachment.
New Workshops
We are once again looking to put on our 6 week back to basics sewing course and 10 week upholstery course. If you are interested in either please give me a shout.
Volunteering Opportunities
Aberdeen Forward has many volunteering opportunties available for any age, ability and availability across all of our projects. Whether it's helping out in the warehouse, manning a stall at the many events coming up over the summer months or becoming a Master Composter the choice is varied and fun!
Real Nappies
Aberdeen Forward now sells a selection of real nappies through our Grampian Real Nappy Project. For more information about the range of nappies for sale contact Sharan on 01224 774177.
Green Cones still Available
Both Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council still have green cone food digestors available at a subsidised £10. The cones are great for getting rid of the food you would not put into your compost bin such as dairy, bones, meat, bread etc. For more information contact the Aberdeen City Council Waste Line on 08456 005333 if you live in the city or contact Aberdeen Forward on 01224 774171 if you live in Aberdeenshire

Actually, unless that have parking, that will only really benefit folk in Aberdeen. Dyce was fine because you had parking, but I wouldn't venture into the city centre.

I was thinking that, too. Sack trying to cart an used filing cabinet up Union Street on a saturday.

I agree Reckon we should get to Dyce for this sale before they move - anyone fancy meeting up there?

I found it quite a long way to go each week when I attended their upholstery course. I certainly wouldn't attend one in the centre of Aberdeen.
But I suppose they will get a lot more customers. People who don't venture out as far as Dyce lol

Since most people won't be able to manage daytime due to work commitments etc. It is probably best to aim for next Thursday evening when they are open until 8pm

CWE and upholstery classesThere is limited parking - so no need to trek up Union Street with a filing cabinet. Environmentally, we are able to encourage people to use the bus and trains (as bus station/train station only 10mins away).
The upholstery classes are great for people located in the city - of which there is an obviously higher concentration of people. They are more popular than ever now, as people look to save money by repairing and reusing items instead of throwing them away.
Be sure to ask about classes in the new year, and try to pop in to see the new premises - which are way better than the Dyce premises (warmer for a start!!).
Cheers
