Hi

I'm looking for ideas for things to make or do at a company summer party. I would prefer it to have an environmental theme.

I was thinking about making bird boxes, or bat boxes or something similar.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

what about tie dying with natural dyes, like onion skin, tea, etc?

or what about using some of the recipes on the health and beauty to make skin cream, hand wash, lip balms etc?

oops just thought of another one...making paper...can make paper out of most things....including grass, old paper etc

It must be something that can be done in an afternoon, preferably in a hour or so. It'll be a family day so kids must be able to do it.

Make-up and the like isn't really an option. If someone gets an alergic reaction, it'd be a nightmare. I work for an oil company and health and safety is our top priority.

It was also thinking home made herbal tea's. Get some plants(mint, ginger etc), and make a herbal tea there and then from herbs that I've grown. Perhaps get them to think about growing their own herbs.

I'm collecting all your ideas and I'll put them forward to the team to see what they think.

Pete it depends on the ingredients you use in health and beauty bit....for example

small amount of Olive oil...mixed with equal parts of sugar and seasalt make a great hand scrub...non allergic....or yogurt mixed with mashed banana and rolled oats for a face scrub...again non allergic

it'll be at one of the big houses or castles, we tend to rent some garden space and get in a tend and give out picnics.

I'd want a table full of things to do in one corner of the tent. So I'm guessing a mix of things might be best. I'm looking at some of the things on the instructables website that someone posted a while ago.http://www.instructables.com/id/BUOY/

I've got a meeting with the team tomorrow to discuss things. At least now I'll have something to say.

How about taking in several trays of seedlings & a pile of newspapers ... get everyone involved in making WG's idea of paper plant pots re-potting and getting to take one home with them.

you could always put a load of clay in the corner...and just see what people make
same with crayons, paints, felts and water...along with paper

or do candle drawings...then wash a colour over.
