change to what though, not that i dont think its a wonderful idea, its just 100 yrs ago they had a joint target, but now what is the target , there are so many opinions of what change we want, build more nuclear power stations is one option, not one i would agree with, but it seems to be popular as i say though, they certainly have my support, every bit helps

Problem is *IF* we want to continue with the flexibility of the power we consume then we need to have something like Nuclear to continue... if we don't then *ALL* the electric cars in the world will NOT help (only make it worse TBH).
It's one of the main problems with the solar/wind/water power... it's a lack of storage that we have... same goes for the problems we have with gas... we've no storage in this country so we sell it cheap to the EU who do have the storage capacity... they are happy to buy at whatever it cost 'cos they know within 6 months they can start selling it back to us at a greater price.

ifs the big question here, because its not only energy , its food, trees, resources are running out, a combination of too many people and too much greed, and war, mining, all the rest, weve scavenged it,
we have to learn to live with less, there in the long run no choice, so the sooner people can see that and can agree on a way to do it the better

I would hope that the way the whole banking thing is going would help in that respect... hopefully the "lack" of free credit would mean that less "crap" was being bought and that people thought more about what they did buy and keep.

Just do what I do and ensure you have no money tied up in these instututions in the first place
IKWYM though... problem is that most of the countries in the world seem to have been built on "free" credit.

Climate Rush - Social ChangeI agree about a plan and I definitely am not planning to wait for the government.
What about Transition culture? Up here in Aberdeenshire, we are so spread out, maybe a transition town is more complicated but what about a transition network???? I know that that immediately brings up questions of foodmiles, car use etc but here at Neeps we already have a network that cares about the environment. We have the food co-op (I know haven't got there yet myself but next one I'll be there with Maria). We have people with skills willing to help others. We have the startings of the foundation..... Are there people here who want to start something and let others know about it and invite them to join from their homes?
I worry about Peak Oil, food security, energy security, community security. I want to be part of something, a community, if not an exact geographical one, that builds security for itself and invites people to join. If the **** is going to hit the fan, if it's already started, I don't want to sit and wait and worry. I don't want to be isolated.
I found a website, if I'm allowed to post it, it's www.carbon-cutters.com it has a lot of links, resources etc. I read what I can, digest it at different rates depending on how intelligent I feel, due to life's ups and downs and put it on the blog. More and more I wonder who else feels the same? I know Maria does, she's a fountain of info and is better at wording it than me. (At least face to face, honestly, it takes me a while to get the confidence to speak out.)
Are there other people out there who feel the same? (Should this be in the debating chamber? If so, can I get permission to enter please?)
I'm not the greenest person, with the best energy record in terms of lights out, (or momentum). We're making a start though, good bulbs etc etc, walking when can. Veggies, recycling etc etc but is it time for the next step to come together with others? (I already egg/jam/straw etc share with my neighbours but I mean on a bigger scale.)
Don't get me wrong, I've only been here a year (almost) and many of you have I'm sure been doing this for years....I know several of you meet regularly. All I'm saying is.... when you meet up to..... share knowledge, food sharing, etc etc Do you ever sit and say, what's the next step? Who's interested in the next step?
If so... I'm interested.

the next step to me its a matter of connecting people that want to learn/teach/share crafts and traditional skills, the next step is to get more and more people involved teaching and learning and communicating/swapping produce , food art,
just keeping at it and spurring each other on and not giving in, is the thing. as more and more like minded people get involved, then we are a step closer.
