Chick hatching advice

Since my Silkie still craves a potato, been talking to Maria and we wee wondering about hatching some eggs? I have a self contained run, the inside is up a ramp and there's access to the run and underneath the... bedroom.

I could have this within my hen patch or outwith. How long would it take and what would I need that I maybe haven't got?

Also I can't keep cockerels for noise anxiety of youngest and happy neighbours, so would want to give away cockerels away to a Neep. I won't do the chicks thing unless I know I can rehome cockerels for pets or meat.

If I can provide what is needed, I'd like to give it ago but not with loads of eggs. Ideally if it works, I'll maybe get a hen or two from them.

Could anybody give any advice and is there anybody who would give/sell me 2 0r 3 eggs and be happy to take any cockerels. Ideally breed-wise I'd be looking for ligt sussexes or similar light coloured birds. Bantam or big.

i could give you half a dozen eggs, the cockrel responsible for them is a rhode island red, the mothers could be from a white hen , a black rock or a light sussex x silkie, id also have your cockrels as soon as they are old enough to see whether they are cockrels.

I can give you some Light Sussex! Well Light, Buff or Silver.....

I'll also take the odd cockerel here. No noise problems...

Hi Smooth,

That would be fab! When would be best to pick them up? Are they needing a hen asap or are they an incubator?

Absolutely, I've no idea of male/female ratios. Hopefully will soon find out.
