We saw a brown magpie while driving home from work yesterday. It looked like a young bird, but we have a few magpies around here and have never seen one before. Has anybody else seen one before.

Is it perhaps a jay - they are a similar size and shape with black and white on their tail like the magpie but their body is brown coloured:

I saw three jays feeding at a bird table the other day - it was the first time i had a close look at them - surprised how big they are - think i've only seen them in flight before.

Definately a magpie.

It might be a leucistic magpie - paler but definitely not albino.
