broody hen and goose eggs

Got a couple of goose eggs under broody hens - one is pipping today. Do we leave it with hen or take it away to put under heat?
JoH

Our broodies raised geese in the old days so  so I would personally leave them but its up to you.

PM'ing you btw

D had already brought it in before your answer GRRR - oh well, it's hatched and is under heat as we speak - hope it survives.

Why didn't you keep it under the goose? Just interested.

thinks its cause the geese like ducks are not brilliant at being parents...but could be wrong...we have duck eggs in the incubator because the ducks just seems to kick the eggs around
PurpleDragon

My geese seemed to be reasonable parents. I guess I didn't have them long enough to say for sure. I know they were very protective of their goslings.
Sassinak

If you take the first batch of eggs away to hatch either under a broody or in an incubator, she will lay a second lot and so you end up with potentially twice as many goslings
PurpleDragon

Oh, cool! What a good idea
