Varies, I'm using Eclipse at the moment and have never had a problem with them, also use them for a couple of backup lines at work, again with no problem.

I do however know a couple of people who were "heavy users" and they ended up moving away from eclipse as they were having some issues. Not sure if it was down to how much they were downloading (and hence being throttled) or if it was down to the exchanges that they were connected to being at fault, etc.

Know of a few people using BT's broadband without any issues, I never liked the router that they supplied with their service though but theres no reason you couldn't swap it for another one.

I'd have said most of the larger names will give you much and such the same service though, but stick away from AOHell.

My Mum has just got a really good deal from TalkTalk - I know their reputation was bad but the service seems to be OK now

I'm on Tiscali.  Not had a problem & I'm a heavy user.

We're with Pipex (who have been taken over by Tiscali - apparently!!) and we've never had any problems.

I use BT broadband down south and will be transferring it up. mainly because I like them not being able to get out of passing the buck as they could if they werent responsible for the whole show!

But I do use a different router, a 3Com one, so they occasionally try that one, and sometimes theyre right and sometimes not!
zombiecazz

We're on tiscali and have had very little problems with them.
Calling them can be a right pain, but we've never had any problems with being capped (bonus)!
BikeOnBye

I wouldn't recommend Tiscali to my worst enemy

If anyone goes with BT disable all the crap that comes with it.
It hogs your processor and slows the PC down to a crawl!

You can get a "What's running" programme to disable all BT software.
If you need it again you can just un-tick the boxes and it will sort the problem.
Then you switch it off again.

The post office are doing broadband with evening & weekend calls plus line rental for £22.95 which is only 50p more expensive that my BT line, dial up & evening & weekend calls just now.

What does download limit mean? If it's 5 GB is that 5GB in a day, week, month? Not into games & Ipods are just beyond me so it probably wouldn't apply.
MarkA

The GB limit is usually per month.  I used to have a 2gb limit and despite all my efforts, never got cut-off due to overuse  8)

You do realise that BT Broadband and BT Line rental basically class themselves as different companies so it'll make no real difference. They'll still try and pass the buck between each other
