Britain's 'Indian summer' set to continue | Quote: | Britain's 'Indian summer' set to continue © ITN 2009
Meterologists say the warm weather experienced by much of the United Kingdom over the past weekend is set to continue into the middle of this week.
Temperatures peaked at 22C (72F) in some areas. This has been put down to a bout of high pressure which has dominated September.
The Met Office says the first part of this week will be similar, before most of the country experiences some rain by Friday.
Hotels in Dorset and Cornwall reported a rise in end of season bookings and thousands crowded beaches such as Bournemouth and Brighton.
Average temperatures for this time of year in the south of England are around 18C (65F).

On the plus at least the air is nice and fresh here....seriously, i'm not joking. Al's not long back from Great Yarmouth and he said the air was claustraphobically stuffy. Would i swap clear air for a bit of warmth....mmm...right now, perhaps. It's fair chilly tonight....brrr. Shorts and sandals eh
