Blissed out Bees?Last night we found two bees we first thought dead in the centre of Lavatera flowers, we prodded them, they were still alive but very dosey. This morning they are dead. I suppose they all have to die somewhere,) and their having a whale of a time in the foxgloves and the honeysuckle bush but just quite sad.

There was a bee walking along the ground next to my garden, which then climbed up our swing seat, and looked very ropey, so I went and got some honey and smeared a little blob of it near the bee, which immediately started drinking it like a man who'd been given water after a week in the desert.
It was either an odd variety of bee, or it had lost a lot of hair, as it only had very narrow bands of hair on it's head / back. It was still there a couple of hours later, so didn't seem to have the energy or the will to fly off.
So far, only seen one honey bee on the farm this year, but a reasonable number of bumble bees. I guess we're just going to have to try getting some honey bees ourselves ... maybe next year!

I haven't seen that many honey bees this year so far - plenty of bumble bees though. We had a bumble bee that landed on a football in a similar state but it did eventually fly off.

BeesWE've loads of bumble types as have a lot of clover, a huge honeysuckle bush and I've planted loads of foxgloves, hollyhocks, cerinthe etc.
I'd be reallly pleased to see a honey bee though.

Not seen any honey bees here yet either. Last year they were regular visitors in the poly. Plenty of bumbles around.

I have lots of bees here, some honey, more bumble.
In fact I have two different bumble bee nests, one in my garden under concrete steps and one in the wall of the house, I see them constantly popping in and out.
They appear to be two different types of bumble though, very different in colour.
I love to watch them
