Aberdeenshire Litter Initiative

This is a scheme run by the Aberdeenshire Environmental Forum Waste Group (known as the Wasters!) where folk pick up litter around where they live - their street, the lane running past their house etc.  If you sign up to the scheme you will get a yellow hi-viz vest with ALI on the back, and a litter picker.

See: www.green-butterfly.org.uk/ali.html
to see how to sign up for the scheme.

The idea is you collect litter when you are out walking, and put it in your own wheelie bin - it is up to you whether you recycle what you pick up or not.

Perhaps by keeping the roads and wayside areas clear of rubbish it will encourage people not to chuck stuff out of their cars, either that or if they don't see other stuff lying around they won't throw theirs out either.
I know it is something the Council should be doing - isn't that what we pay council tax for, but until they get around to doing it efficiently isn't it good to have some pride in our surroundings?

Cool - Julie suggested doing this as Neepsters anyway but would be good to get a litter picker to avoid touching the yuckier stuff.
