I'm getting loads at the moment - tried the add sender to blocked email list but the sender has been crafty and it looks like the email has been sent by me wg @ neeps.co.uk (but with the email address you all receive Neeps email from) - I think that this is causing problems, not just for me but for people that I'm sending emails too as they are not receiving them.

Any idea as to what to do? I am fed up of receiving the spam and also wondering whether anyone else is receiving spam email that appears to be coming from my address.

those lovely spammers have a wee script which automatically adds your email address in as the sender.  there is nothing you can do about that.

what you need to do is create some rules about spam in your email filter options and either stick them in your spam folder or direct to the delete folder.

When I create a rule, I tend to use the subject as the filter so if an email includes the words viagra or penis or enlargement it automatically goes to the delete email.  In hotmail and yahoo you can have lots of these filters set up.

Spam seems to come in waves so you often have to update the rules every few months.  I'm not sure how you access your email(outlook or web), but if you give me some more info, I'll try to help.

Thank you!

I thought it might be something like that. I am using outlook for email and have done some rules - hadn't thought about using a word filter in the subject line. Thanks so much for that.

It's the enhancement pills one that I'm getting - and cheap watches and diets and how to please my lady in bed !! etc

The subject lines are sneaky too - some examples:

Error 304 Message blocked
wildgarlic Newsletter ISSUE 237 (and different numbers too)
subject I left a ticket for u
Last Elvis video

and the words viagra or cialis aren't in the body because there is an image with the words on it instead.

Am I stuck with these?

You can always try one of the antispam bits of software out there like http://www.mailwasher.net/ which will allow you to filter the email you get.

I also know someone else who uses software like above, but also forwards all his email thru' a gmail account, and google manages to take care of most of the spam he's getting as well (plus it means he has all of his email accounts email available from the one mailbox).

The ISP I use for my domain has an antispam system in place as well, and I get a daily email with the "spam" which I can then release or delete as I see fit. It does occasionally pick up a valid email, but it's rare, and the DEFINITE spam isn't even shown on the quarantine email as it's binned or stopped from being delivered before I get it. We run a similar system here at work that I deployed (hardware solution) which saves the email server having to do so much work handling the spam in the first place.
