Excellent news regarding Doonies - the 'third party' is the current farm manager - Graham Lennox who is an extremely talented stockman and possibly the best man to take the farm forward. Unfortunately, ACC has sold off many cattle breeds but no doubt Graham will build up the herds again.

Aberdeen city councillors have given the go-ahead for Doonies Farm to be leased – to allow it to be run commercially and as a visitor attraction.
Urgent Business Committee members agreed unanimously to accept in principle proposals put forward by a third party to keep the attraction running, and instructed the City Solicitor to conclude formal leases on terms and conditions which will protect the council's interest in the property.
Scottish Government consent will be needed before the leases can be finalised.
City councillors voted as part of the 2008/09 budget to cease funding for the farm in order to make essential savings.

I seem to remember one of the previous issues was that the council were keeping the farm payment to themselves (or something like that... I might have got it wrong?), but with it being leased to another party, will the other party be able to claim that money directly, or can the council still get it somehow?
Just wondering if it has a chance to stand on it's own feet now without anyone else meddling with it. |
