Just out of interest - how is your local co-op (if you have one) on Scottish products?

Just this morning I checked out the local, recently refurbished shop in Inverbervie; well, the shop is now very nice and clean and shiny (and with the new layout rather confusing!), but as before, Scottish products are rare on the shelves...
Have promptly written to the co-op asking why it seems to be their policy NOT to stock Scottish dairy products; it's not as if this country was incapable of producing them! And they do pride themselves on their food ethics policy. I know they are good on fair trade, as far as coffee and tea, chocolates etc goes. Fair trade shouldn't stop as soon as it comes to local produce, though.

(Btw, they have butter from New Zealand, Denmark, Ireland and "Britain" - so there might be some Scottish milk in that last one - but I can't make the concious decision to buy Scottish! I have even been in co-ops before where the only choice was between Danish and Irish...)

I find more Scottish produce in Lidl than anywhere else - even more than the local "farm" shop (don't have a Co-op)

Think the Huntly Somefield is now stocking co-op goods - or is now a  co-op? Heard something the other day but not had chance to investigate.

Somerfield has been taken over by Co-op and are in the process of restocking all shops. Big change over doesn't happen till next year though (spring'ish)

PS our local Co-op is quite good on Scottish stuff but not as good as our local Tesco unbelievably

I think it really does very much depend on the individual store, or maybe the size of it. Haven't heard back yet from them!
