Dragons' Depot: Have your say on the
Future of Transport in Aberdeen
Does congestion at Haudagain roundabout give you a headache in the morning? Are you concerned about the proposed pedestrianisation of Union Street or runway extension at Aberdeen airport? Perhaps the shortage of cycle paths in your area leaves you stranded or the cost of public transport alarms you?
If you have ideas on how you would improve a transport issue now is your chance to make a difference. The Aberdeen Business School at The Robert Gordon University is giving people the opportunity to present their solutions to a local transport problem at a Dragon’s Den type event.
Entitled ‘Dragon’s Depot: The Future of Transport in Scotland’, the event will give people the opportunity to present their ideas on a local transport problem of their choice to a panel of judging experts from the business and academic community.
Interested participants are asked to submit their ideas to the University and five ‘finalists’ will be chosen to present their solution to the ‘Dragons’, as well as members of the public, at an event on Thursday 13 March, at Aberdeen Business School. The most convincing and beneficial plan will be chosen by the judges, with help from the audience via Who Wants to be a Millionaire style voting keypads, with the selected participant receiving a prize.
Jillian Anable, research fellow and project organiser from The Centre for Transport Policy at RGU said, ‘We’re very interested in hearing local people’s views on issues that they feel strongly about. While tackling some important issues we want to make participation fun so the short-listed presentations don’t have to be simply oral or Powerpoint – we have equipment such as camcorders and digital cameras available so people can show first-hand the issues they are talking about.’
The deadline for entries to be considered for the presentation event is Friday 8 February. For more information, or to submit details of your transport solution, contact Jillian Anable j.anable@rgu.ac.uk or Laura Illingworth l.j.illingworth@rgu.ac.uk _________________ Neeps Flickr Group - check out some of the fab photos from other Neepsters and share some of your own. |

Getting rid of the bus lanes would help the traffic flow on King Street, Union Street, the bottom of Wellington road, etc, etc, etc... _________________
