Like how they lose the discs with all of our details on it (we have a couple of kids so I assume that we're on it) and yet *WE* are the ones that will have to fook about digging ourselves out of it *IF* the discs do get into the wrong hands.

Luckily I haven't got kids that I claim family allowance for - but it does make you doubt the whole system.

They are speaking about wanting ALL our personal information for Identity cards, and I had never really been against that. I live a blame free life with nothing to hide and thought a secure method of ID might be a good idea. The only real objection that I had, was the fact that we were expected to pay so much for the privilage of carrying one of these cards.
I am now having second thoughts - it is a scary thought that all that information might fall into the wrong hands. They have lost credibility in my eyes and I should imagine a lot of people feel the same, and the people who were against the idea in the first place now have lots of ammunition. Mmm

Exactly... with a bit of luck it means that the ID cards scheme falls on it's a***.

It's quite a worry isn't it. I can't believe that this has happened to be honest. Fancy sticking a couple of cds with such important and sensitive information on them in the POST in the first place. To do so without using a special delivery service is just stupid in my eyes.

I spend ages shredding paper that has my name and address on it... never mind my NI Number and my bank details.

Yup, and now someone possibly has a disc with your name, address, bank details, kids ages, possibly your own DoB as well?

Oh, and bear in mind YOU need to keep an eye out in case someone takes out credit in your name somewhere...

And these are the partially bewildered who demand we carry ID cards - just so they can flog our details to big business, and doubtless flog our dna samples to US Biotech! I swore many years ago that I'd never carry an id card as a point of principle - they have got one helluva battle on their hands if they try...........
