Well, the temperature dropped to -4C last night, the roads are covered in ice, the council still hasn't gritted and the inevitable happened this morning.
Yes, another car into our drystone dyke. Fortunately, the driver wasn't hurt but her car is a wreck and the dyke is knocked down. The lady driving the car thought the road would be cleared by now—it's not.
While I was out helping her, three more cars lost traction in the same spot and the school bus went for a waltz while trying to turn (ie doing less than 5mph). I've asked the council to send out a gritter, but with no luck so far.
Another crash. |

Yes it very icy here too, although the tarmac roads are clear.
Lets hope that the dyke is rebuilt and paid for much quicker than that cottage wall you also have. |

That's awful Stoney - I hope that the council does something about it quickly. The bus driver was talking about black ice here too, and no gritter out here either. I think that school runs at least should be gritted/ploughed (as appropriate) before the school bus starts off. _________________ Neeps Flickr Group - check out some of the fab photos from other Neepsters and share some of your own. |

| I wouldn't actually mind seeing a gritter at all... couple of people I know have seen them about... but not actually gritting anything. The std of main roads (am used to our wee road being ignored) has been pretty crap considering they were talking all week about the cold snap happening. |

Looks like I made the right choice not to drive home through the night yesterday
The council are probably trying to save money cause they are so skint....after all, they need to keep a bit back for their Christmas party. _________________ It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness

| no gritters out here at all this week, one snow plough on Sunday but I think it had the blade up as it didn't appear to be clearing any snow. We are also on the school bus route. |
