one of my all time favorite poems!

On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
and the monkeys all say BOO!
There's a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots jibber jabber joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
So its Ning Nang Nong
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning
Trees go ping
Nong Ning Nang
The mice go Clang
What a noisy place to belong
is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!

Spike Milligan

Great poem by a man who spent his life walking the fine line between genius and madness.

I used to have all his books of poetry until the fire :-(

The bit that really sticks in my mind is :

There are holes in the sky where the rain comes in,
The holes are small
So rain is thin !!

I like his;

I must go down to the sea again,
the lonely sea and sky,
I left my vest and socks there,
I wonder if they're dry

Sorry, but I don't think that ning nang nong poem would have even been entertained by a publisher if Spike milligan wasn't famous, it's crap, imo. Not his best work

Has anyone heard of a Scottish poet called William McGonagall. Said to be Scotland's worst ever poet - but very famous just because of that lol

I reckon if you were to look at the entire body of any writers work, a huge chunk of it would be unusable. We only get to read the best stuff as a rule.

I remember when the actor/comedian Duncan Macrae used to recite some McGonagall's poems on Hogmanay TV.

The Tay, the Tay, the silvery Tay,
Goes up and down to Perth all day !!!

Is that meant to be so funny or was he serious?
