This is a brilliant little hardback book detailing the common forms of both edible and poisonous fungi.
It's written in a very detailed way whilst adding a rather humorous touch at the same time.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes mushrooms or anyone interested in nature generally.
I'm off to get the next 2 books now on preserves and bread!
ISBN No. 978-0-7475-8932-7
RRP £12.99 although it's on offer at the river cottage website with details on the other books too. ( http://www.rivercottage.net/ )
There's also a DVD on this subject and an online course that I'll be investing in when I have some spare cash _________________ "God and our archers made them stumble" Agincourt, 25 October 1415 |

I agree, this book, and the next two in the series are brilliant and I use them heaps!
Tip: if you join the River cottage, you get all the online courses (Game, pig and pork and mushrooms) free of charge and you get discounts on the handbooks.... |

Yes, I was pondering whether to join the 'club' or just do the course as I have no need of the other 2 courses being a vegetarian, for anyone else though it's a bargain idea.
It may well be worth splashing out the extra £15 though to get the discounts on everything else... _________________ "God and our archers made them stumble" Agincourt, 25 October 1415 |

Thanks for the review!
I've been looking at purchasing this one.
Perhaps you could let us know what you think of the other two once you've read them? _________________ My Blog |

The mushroom one is available at the library - might be worth a look!

They are bringing out new online courses all the time so you never know what might come up and make it worthwhile! I reckon there will be a baking one along soon. I got free seeds last year too... |

Quick update...
I've just been through to Inverness for the day and picked up the Bread one. I haven't had a chance to read it all yet, but what I have read so far is great! I'll certainly be trying a few of the recipes out over the next few weeks and may even have a bash at building the bread oven..
I did have a quick look at the Preserves one too, although I didn't purchase it as, with all the other bits we were getting, it would have blown the bank balance a bit.
It also looks pretty good, although many of the things in there I'm unlikely to be doing at present. I'll probably grab it next time I get a chance and then the Veg garden one will also be out this month apparently.... _________________ "God and our archers made them stumble" Agincourt, 25 October 1415 |

There's a great clay oven building thread in the 'green building' section you might be interested in. _________________ Better late than never! |

Excellent, thanks. It'll probably be my project for the summer if I get chance _________________ "God and our archers made them stumble" Agincourt, 25 October 1415 |
