I got my daughter a sewing machine recently.... neither of us really knows how to use it (they tried to teach me at school but I kept breaking them). She's interested in making her own clothes and adapting second hand ones etc.
Does anyone one know where we can get some really simple patterns for starters? eg skirts and stuff, for teenagers. But reasonably kewl (she's 15....) I suspect the things I attempted to make would be considered high naff.
Or anyone know of some web resources/tutorials for dummies? (no pun intended)
I remember lots of scary things like facing materials and the like but she might be made of sterner stuff.

Thanks guys - I've given her the sites to look at.
I have to say that one of the simplicity patterns for a pinafore dress looks like it dropped through a time warp from my school days! But the costumes are dead cool.

Burda publish a special a couple of times a year which is just young fashion. Unlike their standard monthly mag, these teen specials come with all the patterns on a sheet - or used to, I haven't seen one for a few years as my girls are all away now. It would be bang up to date and they tend to be simple to sew, so it would be better for a novice. Hope that helps.
