Excellent
I've done 2 x 6", the Craftster square and I'm about half way through the ravelry 12".
I'll post pics once I've finished the ravelry 12" _________________

Oh my - can't believe you've done one already.
I get the feeling I'll be the one trailing behind - although that's nothing new. I'm still really new to crotchet and am only just getting the hang of it...please bear with me...and any ditsy questions I might ask along the way....pleeeease.
The designs look a bit scary right now...but I've got a crotchet book to hand, so with a bit of luck I'll be able to catch up?!? Talk about diving in the deep end. _________________ Better late than never! |

if you're at the workshop tomorrow night I can give you some help.
I'm only that far ahead because I started the squares on the 1st and didn't go back to work until the 5th _________________

Somebody please HELP!
I know I'm hideously behind here - but I do want to do this. I've just started on the Ravelry/diana's square, and I've already made a mess of it. I've got 5 loops, not the needed 7!!!
I started with the chain - that's the easy bit
Then slip stitch to the first - think I did this ok?
I then tried to work 16 sc but it went all the way around the loop and a bit more. How does the darn thing work??? How do I get 16 sc in when I only had 6 chains. If I'm half way around again how do I get back to sl st to 1st st?? Oh heck.
On the brighter side, I have some lovely wonky loopy thingymibobs.

OK, to get the 16 sc into the 6ch circle. I tend to do about 6 sc then pull them (slide them together so they move closer to the slip stitch at the start) so they bunch together. Do another 6sc and pull them together and so on until you have the 16 in the circle. _________________

Thanks ZC. I was being amazingly stupid. I wasn't doing the sc 'through' the loop. Instead I was pushing the needle through the chain stitches....doh. After looking at what you said...i went back to the books. Getting on ok - ish now. Here's where I'm up to. Think they're looking like they're supposed to??
The most tricky thing is working out the pattern instructions. Like these for the mandela....
Rnd 1: Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring. Ch 3, dc in ring, (ch 2, 2 dc) in ring 7 times. Ch 2, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 3. (8 ch 2 sps)
What does the last bit (8ch 2 sps) mean? I have other daft questions too....please may I keep asking?

feel free to keep asking.
(8 ch 2 sps) this means at the end of the round you should have 8 two chain spaces. _________________
